What we do
Find out more about the role we are taking as we strive to respond to the attendance crisis together
“We exist to ensure compassion and care are at the centre of every conversation around, about, for or with children, young people and their families.
We have extensive experience in the school attendance landscape, both personally and professionally. We understand the challenges children, young people and their families are facing today as they try to navigate education and surrounding systems to lead fulfilled lives.”

Square Peg is a grassroots 'by and for' organisation specialising in school absence and attendance. We work strategically, in collaboration with our partner organisations and network, to represent families whose children struggle to attend, access or remain in education.
We curate conversations and catalyse collaborative, dynamic change, bringing together experts by experience and experts by profession, thinkers, innovators and pioneers.

At Square Peg we believe that:
Every child and young person has the right to access an education that helps them flourish and grow to live full, equitable and empowered lives. No child or young person should be facing challenges or adversity alone.
Every child, young person and their family has the right to safe, accessible, affordable housing and transport, a vibrant and supportive community, to feel well, healthy, optimistic and positive about themselves and the opportunities ahead of them.
Every child, young person and their family has the right to live with dignity, agency and self-respect; to seek advice, support and care when they need it without fear or recrimination.
