Ben has been headteacher of St. Ambrose Barlow Roman Catholic High School since September 2015. The school was recently judged Good with Outstanding for Personal Development by Ofsted.

He is a former Chair of the Salford Headteachers and Principals Association, leads the city’s In-Year Fair Access Panel and is a member of Salford Cultural Education Partnership.  He is an independent governor of Salford City College. 

Trained as a teacher of Drama, Ben was previously head of a secondary school in Ayrshire and part of a national Headteachers’ group advising on the development of Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a founding member of the Education Policy Alliance.
