Steve Bladon

Steve is passionate about education, having enjoyed a 24 year career in primary schools. He was a classroom teacher for 12 years, specialising in Early Years education and working in schools in some of the country’s most deprived council wards.

Steve moved into leadership, becoming headteacher of a three form entry, multi-cultural infant school, in 2011. He was privileged to lead the expansion of that school, before relocating with his family in 2017, Steve’s next headship was at another very large primary school, this time in rural Lincolnshire.

Steve left headship in early 2023, to focus on his recovery from Long Covid. When one of his daughters became consumed with an anxiety disorder and fell out of school, Steve found Square Peg. He has since begun a mission to both advocate for children's mental health and to change the way schools think about pivotal issues, such as attendance, anxiety and inclusion.
